The Women’s Center works on many events throughout the year! Be sure to keep up with our website and MU Engage for updated information about upcoming events.
Love Your Body
Loving your body means to take care of it, trusting it and respecting it for all it does for you. The Love Your Body campaign works to celebrate that. For more information, visit the campaign’s official website!
The world has created expectations based on our looks, creating a dynamic that places the value of appearance over all else. We are provided with a ‘standard’ of beauty that is non-inclusive, and this leaves anyone who does not fit this ‘standard’ feeling inadequate. Love Your Body Week challenges the message that our value can be measured through the ability to meet any standard of beauty. Loving yourself is not the reality for all or may be intermittent, but we work toward everyone being able to accept their physical body, abilities and identities.
Craft Your Community
SNB is a national movement to reclaim historically devalued “women’s work” while having conversations with friends and new acquaintances and creating fabulous fashions! Join our Stitch ‘N Bitch crew from 4 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday in the Women’s Center lounge while classes are in session. It’s open-house style, so you can stop in for a bit or stay the full 2 hours! Bring a project you’re working on or learn how to knit or crochet from one of the Women’s Center staff! If you don’t have the start-up tools, no worries! We have knitting needles and crochet hooks, yarn and patterns.
Coffee Tuesdays
Join us every second Tuesday of the month from 8:30-10 a.m. We provide free coffee, tea, hot chocolate and delicious breakfast treats! All Mizzou students, faculty and staff are invited to join us and build our community!
